RNLI Blyth Crew Carwash 2026 - 200 Years of Saving Lives at Sea
One epic car wash.
For 200 years, the volunteers of Blyth Lifeboat Station have answered the call. This September, we're rolling up our sleeves once again - and we'd love you with us.
Blyth Lifeboat Station: est. 1826
From the days of oar and sail to today's D-class inshore lifeboat, generations of Blyth volunteers have launched into the North Sea when others were heading for shore.

Two hundred years in the making
A lifeboat first stationed at Blyth, privately sponsored by Sir Matthew Ridley. Wrecked on her first service in 1810, with the loss of 15 brave lifeboatmen.
A new lifeboat arrives and Blyth Lifeboat Station is founded - the story of two centuries of volunteer courage begins.
Tragedy strikes: ten crew members give their lives when the lifeboat capsizes on service. We remember them all.
The station transfers to the RNLI, with a new self-righting lifeboat and a renovated boathouse.
The motor age begins: motor lifeboat 'Joseph Adlam' arrives, with a new boathouse and roller slipway.
The first D-class inshore lifeboat arrives - fast, agile, and the heart of the station ever since.
Atlantic 85 lifeboat 'Patricia Southall' (B-923) joins the station.
Our current D-class 'Sally Forth' (D-878) is placed on service - launching on her first shout within days of arriving.
Our 200th year. 1,070+ launches. 441 lives saved. And one epic car wash - join us on 12th September.
Together in 2025, you helped us raise
In our 200th year, we're aiming even higher. Bring your car, your bike - even your boat - and let the crew give it the shine of its life. Every wash, cuppa and raffle ticket keeps our volunteers ready to launch.
